Fire ?
Forgive ?
I Chose to Forgive
Tim's character is revealed by the fact that his lie bothered him so much. It demonstrates that, despite his lies, Tim has some integrity. Tim could have continued to lie, and no one would have known because he was already employed by the company. Nonetheless, he made the decision to come forward and expose his lies, even if it meant losing his job. I understand why someone would lie on their cv, due to unrealistic demands from employers, many candidates lie on their resumes.
If I was the recruiter, I will forgive Tim instead of firing him not because I believe he is a decent person who admits his mistakes, but also because firing him will reflect poorly on my recruiting abilities. recruiters are hired to ensure that the candidate they select is the right one. In this case, it is not only Tim who is to blame, but also the recruiter, because they did not do a thorough job.
At the same time, a candidate is not hired solely based on their resume, which is why some people may lie on their resume because the most important thing is to be able to defend what's on your resume. Tim was hired not only because of his impressive CV but also because of his interpersonal skills, which he demonstrated during the interview process.
Nothing guarantees that those who did not get the job would be just as good as Tim. As long as Tim is doing his job to the best of his abilities, which is the most important thing for the company he deserves to remain employed. I believe Tim outperformed the other candidates during the interview process. Interpersonal skills are just as important as your CV.
